The Verde Island Passage (VIP) Marine Sanctuary, Inc., a non-profit stock corporation, was organized primarily for the members to appreciate, protect, and assist in the promotion of the Verde Island Passage, which is internationally acknowledged as the “Center of the Center of Marine Biodiversity of the World”. This is where you can find the most number of shore fish species in the world.  More than half the Philippines’ documented fish species as well as many globally threatened species can be found here.  Numerous studies in the Verde Island Passage continue to yield discoveries of species that are new to science, further underscoring the global biological significance of this area.

The VIP Marine Sanctuary has a total land area of 5.6 hectares, more or less. It is located northwest of the Mother of All Asia Monument, facing Batangas Bay.

Amenities of the VIP Marine Sanctuary include a Hotel, a Marine Museum, a Dive Camp, an Infinity Pool, a Marina, a Club House, a Health and Wellness Center, and various water sports and recreational facilities.

MONTEMARIA homeowners will be given priority in applying for membership in this non-profit organization to enjoy the exclusive privilege of using the facilities and amenities of the club.

Large scale industries situated along the coastal areas of Batangas Bay such as the 1200MW Ilijan Power Plant, JG Summit Petrochemical Plant, 105MW Batangas Power Plant, Himmel Industries, Chemphil Bulk Terminal, Elite Textile, Pacific Flour Mills, General Milling Corporation, San Miguel, Purefoods, Shell Gas Eastern, Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation, Malampaya Natural Gas Pipeline, 1500 MW First Gas Power Plant, and locators at the Port of Batangas, will likewise be enjoined to participate in the promotion, protection and preservation of the VERDE ISLAND PASSAGE MARINE SANCTUARY.
