ABACORE (Abacore Capital Holdings, Inc.) is the owner and developer of MONTEMARIA. It is a publicly listed holding company with trading symbol: ABA and its shares are traded in the Philippine Stock Exchange. It was incorporated in 1981 as Piedra Negra Mining Corporation, a coal mining company, and listed its shares on October 28, 1987.
In 1989, a group of businessmen bought out the original majority stockholders, converted the company into a holding company, and gave it its present name, Abacore Capital Holdings, Inc. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved its new name on July 2013.
As a holding company, ABACORE owns a controlling interest in companies engaged in real estate, financial services, gold mining, and coal mining. It has exclusive rights in the leasing of online lottery equipment for the lotto operations of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office in the Visayas and Mindanao.
On October 25, 2013, ABACORE celebrated its 25th (silver) anniversary as a listed corporation. It was awarded by the Philippine Stock Exchange for its “contribution to the development of the capital market and the growth of the economy”. The recognition awarded by the PSE Chairman, Jose T. Pardo, and the PSE President, Hans B. Sicat, was a testimony to the stability and profitability of ABACORE’s business operations.
